Johnny Depp Filed an Appeal Exactly the Day after Amber Heard Began Her Appeal against June Verdict

The legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is still going on.

The latest update shows that the appeal has also been filed by Depp on Friday, July 22 in the Court of Virginia. Although Amber Heard, ex-wife of Johnny Depp, filed her appeal exactly the day before on July 21.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor Amber Heard are now appealing the decision about their famous defamation case.

The defamation trial between Depp and Amber Heard was concluded by the Virginia Court on June 1, 2022, last month. It was ruled in the favor of Johnny Depp.

The Jury consisted of seven members were unanimously declared their decision by stating that the actress Amber Heard badly accused her ex-husband and also tried to defame him through her 2018 op-ed.

Amber Heard also blamed her ex-husband implicitly in her Washington Post in which she wrote that she was domestically mistreated she didn’t mention Johnny Depp, but it was quite clear that she was talking about him.

After this, Johnny sued the Aquaman actress for fifty million dollars because her character assassinated him and blamed Depp, of being a terrible husband.

In response Heard countersued Johnny Depp, for a hundred million by accusing him that he played a “dirty campaign” against her and called her claims “ A blatant lie “.

After the verdict came, the court has directed Amber Heard to pay 10 million dollars to her ex-husband Johnny Depp in damages.

The legal teams of both met at the court in the month of June, so if they could reach a settlement and the attorney also tried to make the last agreement between them to decreases the damages that Amber owed to Depp.

The attorney tried to settle down things but in vain, and nothing could settled between Amber and Johnny. And in the end the official verdict of the Court came in which the 36-year-old had to pay the amount of $10.35 million in damages.

It was also ordered by Judge Penney Azcarate to Depp, to pay $2milion to the Aquaman actress in damages.

The representative of the Edward Scissorhand actors stated that they were confident about the court’s decision because they already knew that it would stand in their favor.

“The jury listened to the extensive evidence presented during the six-week trial and came to a clear and unanimous verdict that the defendant herself defamed Mr. Depp in multiple instances. We remain confident in our case and that this verdict will stand,” Daily Mail reported.

As the People, reports showed source related to the ‘Rum Diary’ actor said to the outlet,

“It was an overwhelmingly positive verdict for Johnny, who believes that this is a time for both parties to move on with their lives and heal.”

“But if Ms. Heard is determined to pursue further litigation by appealing the verdict, Mr. Depp is filing a concurrent appeal to ensure that the full record and all relevant legal issues are considered by the Court of Appeal.”

Amber Heard appealed in court a week after the Judge had refused her request for one more trial.

This month earlier, the attorney of Amber Heard claimed in court that all the evidence, used in the support of the Jury’s finding that Amber defamed Johnny, was not sufficient.

The team of Amber’s defense was not satisfied with one of the juror and said that the one juror should not have been allowed to be on the panel because they were not screened properly.

“It is deeply troubling for an individual not summoned for jury duty nonetheless to appear for jury duty and serve on a jury, especially in a case such as this,” they argued.

The lawyer Amber tried to request a new trial but the judge Penney Azcarate denied their request for an additional hearing. The judge suggested to the lawyers that they could request a judicial appeal for it.

“We believe the court made errors that prevented a just and fair verdict consistent with the First Amendment. We are therefore appealing the verdict.

“While we realize today’s filing will ignite the Twitter bonfires, there are steps we need to take to ensure both fairness and justice.” On Thursday, the Heard’s spokesperson stated this on her behalf.
