Brother Makes Prom Dress for His Sister after Knowing Their Parents Could Not Afford One

Sometimes, when something seems to be impossible to us, a miracle happens that makes us believe that nothing is impossible. The same happened with the girl featured in this article. She was slowly losing hope of getting a prom dress due to the financial situation of her parents. She was even thinking about missing out on the prom. To her surprise, her brother, Maverick Francisco Oyao decided to make a dress for her from the materials he manages to buy. He could not see his sister sad and that is what urged him to make a dress for her. Maverick posted this story on Facebook and he received a huge amount of praise.

This extremely heartwarming story is what made us emotional as well.

The story began with the school’s announcement of junior and senior prom. Maverick’s sister really wanted to attend the prom but she could not because her parents could not afford to rent a ball gown due to financial difficulties. Maverick decided to make a dress himself from the affordable ingredients bought from the market but it was extremely difficult to make so he gave up. But her sister’s happiness really mattered to him so he once again started making it and ended up completing it finally. He searched through many YouTube videos and Google to look for ideas about what he needed to make. He came across a dress by Michael Cinco from the spring-summer collection and decided that he wanted to make it.

He even shared the whole creative process on Facebook. He wrote “This was my first day. I was nervous and didn’t know where to start.

I cut out 9 pieces of blue fabric, decorated them with a satin ribbon, and sewed them all together to make a skirt.”

“Since there was no space inside the house, we tried the skirt on outside. 50% of the work was done — my sister’s dress was almost finished.” “I used flower details on the skirt.”

“I painted an ombré blue bodice to fit in with the color pallet of the lower part of the dress. I would come home from school and work on it. Sometimes I’d get extremely tired, but by imagining the outcome, I got the energy to continue the hard work. What I love most about the whole dress is the sleeves.”

“And at last — a day I will never forget! I even cried with joy because all those sleepless nights paid off.”

“And here I am with my sister. I didn’t expect to finish it in time. I even doubted if I could do this or not because the concept was different from what I was already doing. I’m happy to see my sister happy.”
